Where else but in Saudi can a woman–a mother of two and a professional IT worker at the world’s biggest oil company–be imprisoned for driving a car?  But these days even in Saudi word gets out, in this case from the weblog of Mrs. Eman al Nafjan, a ‘genetic Wahabi’ from Riyadh.

Mrs. al Nafjan writes some of the best English–the clearest, most stylish and most characterful–I’ve seen from the Kingdom.  And she uses this talent to promote awareness of Arab issues, and highlight abuses against women: Manal Al Sherif’s imprisonment being the latest example.
